Qualifying opens for Jefferson County offices

Qualifying is open through 5 p.m. April 4 for the June 3 Democratic primary.

Candidates must file their qualifying documents and fee by the deadline in order to be on the ballot.

These are the county positions and their qualifying fees:

  • Jefferson County Tax Assessor $1,476
  • Jefferson County Tax Collector $1,476
  • Tax Collector, Bessemer Division $1,328
  • Tax Assessor, Bessemer Division $1,328
  • Jefferson County Treasurer $1,215
  • Treasurer, Bessemer Division $1,094
  • Constable $ 200

Candidate packets are available at the office of County Chair Robert Yarbrough, 2809 5th Ave. S. in Birmingham, phone (205) 252-9431. Forms can be filed (a notary is available) and fees paid during regular business hours, although an advance phone call is advised.  (click here for above information in PDF file )
